Lead Product Designer (2024-25)

RIVAL's mission is to create the largest platform to discover, watch, and share immersive spatial videos. I joined the team in October 2024 to lead the design function during the development of the MVP which brought in $4.2 million of seed investment April 2025.

Rival Studio is the web-based companion app which allows creators to streamline the process of uploading spatial content, optimizing them for mixed-reality and even convert videos from 2D to 3D using AI depth mapping.

My first question to kick this project off was : "What do creators actually need?". Especially creators working with spatial content. Given the fact that we were a brand new platform trying to acquire new content, it was very important that the upload experience was as frictionless as possible.

I'm also really fascinated by the idea of designing for "AI-powered" user experiences. I think this fundamentally how we approach the UX and interfaces of web based tools. I wanted to create an upload experience that centered around scoping the creators needs to provide non-generic ideas and allowing for fine-tuning and versioning of their content.

In April 2025, Rival decided to pivot from being just a content platform to building an machine-learning model that could convert 2D video to 3D using AI powered depth maps. I helped build the early UX of this tool and integrate into the Studio experience in a way that would allow creators to use the tool without much technical knowledge .
